Private Tours

Paul specialises in Private Tours - preferring being able to give his clients custom experiences that match their needs. These can be tailored multi-day tours or tours selected from packaged options. See details below. All tours are for only 1-2 adults due to space and comfort limits. Go here to see what to bring and expect.

Half day private boat safaris

Morning or evening boat tours are a great place to get close to the unique nature of the Top End wetlands. Times depend on the time of year but its normally a 4 hour trip on Corroboree Billabong from sunrise or until sunset for 1-4 passengers (2 is optimal). You’ll have a great chance of getting fantastic photography opportunities of Crocodiles, Comb-crested Jacanas Black-necked Storks (Jabiru), Brolgas, Kingfishers and White-bellied Sea Eagles – just to name a few! See more details on what you might see here. These tours costs $500 plus $50 for each extra person (another $150 if you need transport from and to Darwin) – and prices are subject to 10% GST. These tours can be booked via the “Book now” button above – but be sure to contact Paul via phone or email to discuss timing and details. Note this safari is subject to seasonal closures at times due to flooding in the wet season.

Full day private 4wd and boat safari

This safari combines a morning driving to Paul’s favourite spots (with your preferences in mind) for land based photography, and then an evening boat tour as per the half day private boat safari above. We’d take a break in the middle of the day during the heat and have lunch together along the road – eg Corroboree Tavern or the Bark Hut inn – depending on where we are. Cold water and snacks provided and we purchase our own meals. This tour costs $1000 +GST and includes transport to and from Darwin.  It is another $50 per person up to 4 passengers – but 2 is optimal. This tour can be booked with the “book now” button above – but be sure to contact Paul via email or phone to work out details. Please note that all our tours are subject to availability of locations due to seasonal conditions etc – for example in the wet season some areas may be closed due to flooding – but there is always amazing nature to see and the tour will be flexible to ensure you get the equivalent experience.

Storm Photography is another option during the wet season

Custom tailored private tours

If your needs don’t fit into one of our packaged tours we are happy to work out a tailored itinerary for you – and this is how a lot of our clients arrange tours with us. These can range from half a day to many days and are for 1-2 adults (total price is the same). We can pick you up from your accomodation each day (or the airport the first/last day) or we can stay at accommodation out in the field at roadhouses or nature parks. The best way is to email (paul@wildfoto.com.au) or ring (+61 400249458) to discuss requirements and goals. Paul will email you a proposed itinerary along with a no obligation quote for you to consider. Costs are $1000 per day plus a km allowance based on plans. Boat trips are normally morning or evening and are $300 on top. Accomodation is also extra. These prices are subject to 10% GST and may vary depending on requirements. Normally cold water and snacks are supplied and we just get our own meals on the road. We can take up to 4 passengers but 2 is optimal.

Boat photography trip for locals

With all these tours and looking after clients, its sometimes hard for us to take photos ourselves! With this in mind we are offering trips out in the boat with Paul just for locals – and for a much reduced price. But beware – Paul isn’t going to pamper you! :). You are just going out taking photos with him and he’ll be taking photos too! He might not feed you to the crocs if you steal one of his cold water bottles from the esky – but you get the idea. You’ll just be a mate on the boat taking photos too – and therefore mates rates it is. The cost of this trip is $300 plus $50 for extra passengers up to 4 (plus GST). The idea is you pay for the costs along with a bit extra to tap into Paul’s experience and Paul gets to take photos too! This trip leaves from the WILDFOTO property at Marrakai – please contact Paul via email or phone to arrange or enquire.
